A Night Out: How to Do It Safely

Going out to bars or nightclubs is such a fun way to spend time with friends and meet new people. Whether it is a huge disco club in the middle of Paris or a small local pub in Trastevere, a night out is a great way to enjoy each other’s company and have fun. There are a few tips and safety precautions to take to ensure your night out ends with you safely back at home.

The first tip is to stay with your group. There is so much truth to the idea of “safety in numbers.” It is important to know where your group is at all times during your night out and not become separated from everyone. When you remain close to people you know, they can watch out for you and make sure you stay safe. A person is also much less of a target when they are in a large group instead of wandering away by themselves.

A second tip is to drink in moderation and be aware of who has access to your drink. Drinking alcohol can be a fun part of going out as long as you make sure you are conscious enough to remain aware of your surroundings. It is also important to keep an eye on your drink at all times. If you leave your cup unattended, it allows for the opportunity for someone to slip something in it. Knowing how much alcohol you’ve consumed and remaining aware of where your drink is can make sure you have a positive drinking experience on your night out.

The third tip for having a safe night out is making sure you do not walk home alone. Ask someone in your group to walk you home from the club or bar, and if they are unable to, the Viola app is always there to make sure you get home safe. A volunteer is always ready to stay on the line and make sure you make it home from your night out.
