Meet Neele

Our service is run thanks to the people who have donated their time to make our streets safer. Meet one of our volunteers who help make this organization possible.

Neele is an eight-teen year old from Germany who volunteers for Viola. Her story with us started last fall when she first came across us through an instagram post. She decided to start volunteering because she had already been searching for some volunteer work and when she found Viola she thought it was an important cause.

“I personally live in a safe country and if I already feel bad about it, how is it in other countries that are less safe”.

Neele believes Viola is significant because she knows for herself how it feels to walk home alone, so she thinks it is important to help others feel more comfortable when they are going somewhere by themselves. If you are thinking about becoming a volunteer, a piece of advice from Neele would be to search for something that you like to talk about. “If you feel nervous about the call just try to be authentic. Most of the people are really nice and they are just happy to have someone to talk to”. She says that most of the time people are content to have a topic that you enjoy and present to them so they can just listen and feel comforted on their walk home.

“When someone thanked me for doing the call with them I felt really grateful for being part of this project”.

In Neele’s free time she enjoys participating in athletics, playing the piano, teaching children, and dancing. Her favorite part about being a volunteer is the feeling to help others and to be a part of the community. She says every time someone writes something positive in the group about the volunteers it feels really nice to her.
