Meet Sebastian

Our service is run thanks to the people who have donated their time to make our streets safer. Meet one of our volunteers who help make this organization possible.

Sebastian is a twenty nine year old from Austria who is working in foreign countries at German schools. He has been a volunteer since this past spring and usually works the late night shifts. He first came across Viola when he saw an instagram story and decided to check it out because he thought it was a really good idea.

“I know the struggle when you are going somewhere in the dark, most of the times alone, and suddenly everyone you meet is becoming a potential stranger who is following you”

Sebastian thinks Viola is significant because it is important to support people getting home safe and people can feel more safe if they can talk about their problems and what is going on. He believes that Viola has the power to “support someone by listening”. His favorite part about being a volunteer is when he is on calls with user’s in cities that he is familiar with and listening about the user’s surroundings. He enjoys hearing about the person’s journey there and what kind of activities they have done. In return he has found it comforting to the user’s to be on a call with someone who is familiar with the place in which they are.

“The feeling you get out of supporting somebody or helping somebody is way more than those two hours you spend volunteering”.

In Sebastian’s free time he enjoys socializing with friends, being active, and going to concerts. He has worked with kids his whole life and studied to become a teacher. If you are thinking about becoming a volunteer, a piece of encouragement from Sebastian is “It’s a really easy and nice way of supporting somebody”.
